Laboratory Assistant – Water & Wastewater - Townsville City Council
Hourly Rate of $23.80 - Contract / Temp

An excellent opportunity exists within the Townsville City Council to advance your skills within the Laboratory at Water and Wastewater.

The successful applicant will provide technical and analytical support for Water and Wastewater so that all its services and treatment operations are carried out in a manner that does not contravene the best interests of the Townsville City Council. Carry out all work in accordance with Workplace Health and Safety requirements, in accordance with the Environmental Protection Act, Environment Management Systems and Plans which are in place with regard to the hazardous substances and samples which are used in the work place.

The main duties of the role include:

  • Perform the day to day requirements of the Water and Wastewater laboratory's sampling and testing regime

  • Perform other technical duties as required by the Chemist or the Assistant Chemist.

  • Work within the guidelines provided by the Laboratory Management Manual.

  • Maintain an orderly and properly kept laboratory.

  • Work with a high degree of safety awareness within the laboratory.

  • Ensure all administration requirements, which pertain to this position, are fulfilled by strict compliance with current policies and procedures.

  • Perform routine work, prioritise workloads and meet deadlines

Work Experience

At times there are opportunities for work experience at ACTFR. This could be assisting taking samples in the field, sorting the samples in the lab or data manipulation in the office. If you are interested, please contact ACTFR or the staff member working in your field of interest:

Colton Perna would like some assistance when doing 2-6 week long electro-fishing surveys in Cape York and Gulf country
