Originally from Canada, Jason completed his B.Sc. (Hons) in 2006 at JCU on the diving physiology of freshwater turtles, and has extensive amateur experience in both field studies and in captive husbandry of herpetofauna and freshwater fish. Currently employed by the ACTFR as a technical officer/research assistant under Dr. Damien Burrows, he is currently assisting with a number of ongoing projects with the ACTFR. This includes investigations into the distribution and ecological effects of exotic and translocated native fish in upland areas of the Wet Tropis: concentrating on fish predation and palatability of rainforest frog tadpoles; and the distribution and ecological effects of Tilapia.

As a continuation of his honours studies Jason is also involved with a number of studies looking at the ecology, physiology and distribution of freshwater turtles in Northern Australia in collaboration with Dr. Ivan Lawler at JCU.
